Chicago just underwent a record-tying nine consecutive days of measurable snowfall, and the LPHS main building is paying the price.
A leak caused by the winter storm broke out in rooms 224 and 027, according to physics teacher Mr. Bentley.
Room 224 took the brunt of the water damage from the leak, which was discovered early Monday morning. A section of the the outer wall detached from the bricks and fell to the floor, breaking part of a wall-mounted test tube rack in the process.
As of Tuesday, the dripping water has been fixed in 224, although it continues to a lesser degree in 027. The ceilings of both rooms have yellowed significantly.
